Is this normal for a lip piercing?

I pierced my lip last night, but I did it safely, I sterilized all of my equipment and made sure everything was clean. It's almost been a day since I pierced it, it's not red on the outside but red on the inside but that was because I had trouble getting it in on the other end. It's also swollen but I'm keeping it very clean. I don't have the piercing after care stuff but I made some saline which I read is good for cleaning out lip and tongue piercings, I don't really touch the hole itself but every so often I twist around the ring to keep it from crusting. Also the area on the inside of my mouth is swollen but not on the outside. Are there any tips to keep it from getting any worse?
