Why do we keep misusing the word "Pedophile"?
In the Media, when maybe a adult male around his thirties has a sexual relationship with a 14 or 15 year old girl, the media and often other people call him a "Pedophile" but that's not the definition of a pedophile. The definition of Pedophilia is the sexual attraction to Prepubescent Children. Not Teenagers. A Psychologist as far as I know, wouldn't diagnose a person as a Pedophile if they have sexual fantasies and sexual attraction to teenagers. They would diagnose the person as Ephebophile or Hebephile but not a Pedophile. Now I'm not trying to justify Pedophiles, Ephebophiles or Hebephiles. Well actually, Hebephiles are a little more understandable, but anyways back to my point. I'm a victim of a Pedophile, I was sexually abused by my Father when I was six years old, and it went until I became 13 years old. I have nightmares all the time, I hate when people touch my skin in any sort of way, I even hate being around alot of people (Social Phobic). But why do people keep misusing the word "Pedophile"?
