Is there a male/female correspondence in homosexual relationships?

1 lesbian couple I know, the one girl dresses and almost looks like a man and acts like the man in the relationship, while the other is more feminine and nurturing. However, another couple I know are both very feminine and nurturing. However, with the gay men I know one is always more dominating than the other. This is just from my group of friends. And I think it's just preference. I know a lot of straight couples where the man in more nurturing and the woman is more dominant.
