Joseph Campbell was talking about the inner journey a man makes into his own unconscious. Within a man's own mind, lies all the myths of the world. And within these myths, all the accumulated energy of his people is stored. But this energy is not energy in it's typical interpretation. It is an energy that sustains a man. It sustains any man who recognizes that he is a link in the great chain of human history. By being connected to immortals, he too becomes immortal.
