Panasonic TA1, can i use a USB mains adaptor to charge the device?

I recently purchased an Panasonic TA1 Pocket camcorder, it came with a USB cable so that i can charge it via pc. But i wondered if i could use my Mains adaptor to USB slot to actually charge it via the mains. I use it for my iPod when away on holiday normally. Will this cause damage to the camera? Or can i do it safely?
