Why do liberals hate Texas so much? Do we just embody everything they hate or something?

I would describe myself as a moderate liberal or you could use that phrase "socially liberal, fiscally conservative". I have never been to Texas but I have a lot of love for them just because of all the great people that come out of there. I don't understand why they're thought of as ultra-conservative, racist, non-progressive, or narrow-minded. People who think like that are so stupid. Just like every part of this country, it has all types of people. Also, why do people think ALL Texans are rednecks when some of the biggest U.S. cities are in Texas?
